Shopping in the Calligraphy District-Xi'an City

Today we ventured out on our without Sherry our guide/translator or our driver...we hailed our own cab and handed him a piece of paper with the name of the place we wanted to go.  We saw this quaint district while on the City Wall of Xi'an and asked our guide to tell us more about it, she said it was the Calligraphy District on the South side of Old downtown Xi'an.

We arrived without problem and began walking the allies and buying various art from vendors, the interesting part was this was not really a tourist hot spot and therefore nothing was written in English and nobody spoke any.  This made for some interesting transactions (check out the photo below of Winn trying to figure out how much the total would be)

It was such an fun afternoon, as we walked and people watched, took in the culture and even had some of the locals try and talk to us about Lottie.  One sweet little girl and her Mom were curious of the American couple with the Chinese baby, and as they got closer, they saw her cleft.  The girl, who was probably 6 years old, didn't flinch and in English she said, "she is beautiful", melted this Mama's heart...yes she is beautiful.  What a wonderful day in Xi'an.
