Beijing Day 1

Today we took it easy, since we arrived at 1:00 am last night and traveled for over 24 hours, therefore we opted not to sight-see during the day.  We all slept great. We turned the lights off at 2:30 am and slept until 7:30 am. We ate a fabulous breakfast at our hotel and enjoyed meeting two German families who recently adopted their babies, beyond adorable and we must admit we stared at them throughout the entire meal.  The babies seemed so well adjusted to their new families and so happy.

Later we met with our guide Amy, she informed us we would met our sweet Lottie at around 4
pm on Sunday!  Wow we are finally so close! She went over our schedule for tomorrow we have a long day of touring and are so excited to see all the sights in Beijing!  We will see Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City & the Great Wall.

Today we spent the day walking around the blocks close to our hotel, we did some shopping (see the next post) and leisurely walked the city.  We love China and enjoy all the sights, sounds and smells of China.  We are already in love with this beautiful country.

We ate our first authentic Chinese meal at a local restaurant, we were the only foreigners in the entire place.  Our waitress, didn't speak any English, it was very interesting to say the least, especially the first part of our order, we asked for tea, feeling confident until she showed us a list of 6 different teas, we had no clue what to choose, we finally decided on the first on the list- which turned out to be a delightful green tea. Next the food- thankfully each entree had photos we ordered what we thought was green beans, a chicken entree, and some noodles..to our surprise we ended up with a celery dish, meat and mushroom dish and a spicy meat and pepper dish.  Everything was excellent although we must admit we aren't quite sure exactly what we ate. We ended the evening in our hotel and had a birthday drink to celebrate my Mom Fab Abs' birthday!
